Geist Home Gets Wood Replacement and Painting

When it came time to repaint the exterior of this Geist home, the homeowners knew they had a big project on their hands. In addition to painting, the home had rotten wood that was going to need to be replaced. A project like this may seem overwhelming, but they knew who to call for wood rot replacement and painting in Geist: Guy Painting!

When it’s time to paint the exterior of a home, it’s important to take a careful look at everything that will be painted. Over time, materials will start to wear down and need to be repaired or replaced. The quality of a paint project can only be as good as the quality of the materials being painted. That’s why Guy Painting has skilled carpenters who replace rotten wood before we paint your home. The result is a finished home that looks as good as (if not better than!) new and a paint job that will last for years.

Inspection and Quote for Wood Replacement

The homeowners sent a message through our website to setup a free quote for painting and wood replacement. We came to the home to learn more about the family’s goals with the home painting as well as to measure and inspect everything.

Some of the things we look for include:

  • Rotten Wood Siding – including lap siding, sheet siding, board and batten, shake, and more
  • Rotten Wood Trim
  • Rotten Wood Soffits
  • Rotten Wood Fascias
  • Rotten Wood Gutter Boards – we can replace most gutter boards without even having to remove the gutters!
  • Rotten Wood Band Boards
  • Rotten Wood Door Frames
  • Rotten Wood Windows and Sashes – we can completely rebuild most wood windows to match your existing home without having to replace the window!

We will then prepare a detailed quote showing the location of all boards that need to be replaced.

Once they had a chance to review the quote, we made it easy to get on our painting schedule. They just signed the quote and sent it back to us! Guy Painting does not require a deposit. You will never have to feel at risk with us – we want to earn your trust!

Wood Replacement

Our carpenters were the first team to come out and start replacing rotten wood on this Geist home.

Experience makes all the difference in carpentry!

We match new materials to old materials for a seamless transition. We don’t swap out small sections of boards, leaving you with extra joints. Instead of filling a crack with Bondo and hoping it lasts, we replace the entire board for peace of mind.

Prep for Painting

It’s the secret of professional painters: The prep works makes all the difference! We prepared the home for painting by power washing, lightly sanding and scraping where needed for adhesion, and masking off areas that we were not painting. We made sure to protect landscaping, brick, cars… anything that we didn’t want to get paint on!

Painting

With everything protected, our experienced painters came through to change the look of the home. Their Geist home was originally painted in a one-tone color scheme, but they decided to change to a two-tone color scheme. In this case, the trim went a bright white and the body and siding went deep navy blue. They chose PPG (Porter Paints) colors:

Siding: PPG1042-7 Admiralty

Trim: PPG0998-1 Cotton Tail

The contrasting colors accent the architectural features of the home. The bay windows and screened-in porch stand out, and the home has a completely different feel to it!

Through the process, our lead painters and Quality Managers are always watching for any imperfections in the paint finish. We walk the project daily to make sure everything looks great!

The Results

It’s a great feeling when a home painting project is finished and we walk around the home with our customers. We love to see the transformation and the look on our customer’s faces when they fall in love with their home all over again!

If you’re thinking about your next painting project, give us a call or schedule your free quote online! For wood rot replacement and painting in Geist and beyond, let us help you create an incredible home that you’re sure to love.

Home Exterior Painting in Dark Colors

Painting has always been a great way to make a big change to your home while saving money over replacing materials. It’s a chance to customize your home and make it a reflection of your personality! Our professional painters know the secrets to achieving beautiful painting results. Something we have been seeing more is using dark exterior paint colors, and we’ve created some dramatic transformations!

We encourage our customers to follow their hearts when choosing an exterior paint color. While we can match the current color of your home, it’s a good time to consider making a change. Choosing colors can be overwhelming, so we are happy to offer a complimentary color consultation to many of our customers!

We’ll send a professional designer and color expert to your home to understand your goals, see your home, and help suggest and guide you to the right colors to achieve the results you’re dreaming about.

Take a look at some recent Guy Painting transformations using dark colors for exterior painting:

Grizzle Gray and Iron Ore

Dark gray siding with black trim makes this North Indianapolis home stand out! In addition to replacing rotten wood, our carpenters removed some decorative trim to keep things clean and simple. You can follow the process from wood trim replacement, cleaning and prep work like covering anything we aren’t painting, and then finally the actual painting. As always, the prep work makes all the difference in a painting project!

The homeowner kept the black Iron Ore trim to just the roofline, giving a dark gray monotone look to most of the home using Sherwin Williams Grizzle Gray. Gorgeous midcentury accents add a finishing touch to this dramatic look.

We love a job well done, and there’s a reason we have the best painter reviews in Indianapolis! As a local, family-owned painting company, our management team works to ensure every project deserves a five-star painter review and a “Straight A” grade card.

Monotone Black Modern

For a more contemporary look, many of our dark exterior color schemes go monotone. That means the trim, siding, and everything on the house is just one color. These Westfield homeowners wanted to make a statement, and they did that going with Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black.

The transformation is dramatic, and our team will be watching over your project from start to finish.

Though an all-black house sounds like it could look dark and foreboding, this home still feels exciting and full of life! Black paint makes other colors come to life, and the stone accents and landscaping pop against the dark home.

Stately and contemporary, this home had no problem selling quickly and for full asking price when the homeowners decided to sell.

Your company is amazing. At closing today on our home, we told the new buyers and both agents how amazing you were. They all took down your information too! 😊 God Bless you all!

Black Magic for a Modern Craftsman

Sometimes you find the perfect house for your family… but the color scheme feels bland and doesn’t match your personality. This Fishers/Fortville/Geist family knew exactly what they wanted to do to fix that! With photo inspiration, they met with our Designer and Color Expert to select just the right colors to transform their home.

They went with a unique palette using Sherwin Williams colors:

  • Black Magic for the body
  • Rookwood Dark Brown for the trim
  • Copper Pot accent colors

The homeowner worked with the HOA and won them over by showing examples of similar color schemes on other homes. In the end, the results speak for themselves! Black Magic is just a bit warmer than Tricorn Black, perfect for this family. When combined with the brown trim, copper accents, and red brick, this home feels warm and welcoming.

What’s the next step?

You may be wondering if a dark or bold color will look good on your home and in your neighborhood. Many of our customers across Indianapolis have older homes in established neighborhoods, and are concerned about making sure their homes still fit in their neighborhoods. Even in Carmel and Fishers neighborhoods with strict HOAs, dark exterior paint colors have been approved and the results are stunning!

Experienced painters and carpenters, professional quality managers, and a management team focused on creating an exceptional painting experience. The Guy Painting difference is noticeable and reflected in our work and painter reviews. Reach out and discover why we are commonly rated as the best painter in the Indianapolis area!

Brick Painting Makeover

The homeowners of this Carmel home called us to get a quote for painting the exterior of their house for a modern update. They wanted a full makeover, and for that they were going to need to paint the brick! We were happy to come by and give them a free quote for exterior siding and brick painting.

The first thing we always want to do is understand your goals for your painting project. We walked around with the homeowner to review the entire house and put together a quote for everything. They had some wood rot, so we pointed that out and included wood replacement in their detailed quote for painting. This family also wanted some interior painting completed, so we put together a full proposal based on their painting goals.

Color Selection

When painting, color selection can be an overwhelming decision.

  • How do I choose the best color for my house?
  • How do I pick the best shade of white for my home?
  • Should I paint my brick the same color as my siding?

Luckily, we’ve got you covered! Like many of our customers, this homeowner received a complimentary color consultation. We sent a professional designer and color expert to their house to help them pick out just the right colors to achieve the look of their dreams!

The homeowner’s knew they wanted to brighten and modernize the home. They definitely wanted to get rid of the green, and they wanted to paint the brick. We helped them with choosing paint colors for their home!

With our designer’s help, the homeowners chose Sherwin Williams colors for their project:

  • Dover White
  • Oak Leaf Brown

Brick Painting

When it comes to painting brick, the process, products, and experienced painters are all crucial pieces to achieving a finish that will last for years. We clean the brick to remove any surface debris that could prevent adhesion, and we use tape, paper, and cloths to protect any surfaces that we won’t be painting. Next, we apply a high-quality masonry primer. This primer will seal the brick to help prevent deterioration, block the color of the bricks from showing through, and provide the base layer for paint to stick to.

After that, we will paint with a high-quality exterior paint. Different homes and colors have different needs, and our experienced team of painters and managers will make sure that your home has the perfect products for your situation. Most of our projects use Sherwin-Williams paints and products, but we also use PPG/Porter Paints and Benjamin Moore products when appropriate. Your quote will show what products we will use to create your dream home look!

The Result

Our favorite things to see: a beautifully painted home, and another straight-A grade card!

Every customer gets a grade card at the end of every project, it’s the chance to let us know how everything went. We LOVE seeing how happy our homeowners are! Our painters, carpenters, and managers all pride ourselves on creating beautiful homes for all of our customers!

Installing Decorative Picture Frame Moulding

If you’re looking for something that will really take your home to the next level, you might consider installing decorative interior moulding and paneling to key rooms. We often add these kind of decorative interior wall trims to foyers, dining rooms, offices, and hallways. Picture Frame Moulding looks especially elegant, though the look ranges anywhere from formal and classical to fun and modern.

Room with picture frame moulding, painted in Sherwin Williams Natural Choice

Decorative interior trim is an easy way to add architectural interest to a home without a major renovation. Our expert interior carpenters serve as artist and engineer to create a custom design for your home. Common styles of moulding and decorative paneling that we install and paint are:

  • Picture Frame Moulding
  • Judge’s Paneling
  • Board and Batten Walls
  • Wainscoting

…though our carpenters are ready to come up with a custom option just for your home!

Picture Frame Moulding

If you want a classic and elegant look, it’s hard to beat picture frame moulding! Equal parts mathematics, engineering, and artistry, installing decorative moulding takes careful planning and skillful creation.

Take a look at our behind-the-scenes guide on how to install picture frame moulding:

Our carpenters start with getting detailed measurements and planning the trim and paneling layout. We start with inspiration and guidance from the homeowner combined with the expertise of our carpenters to design a custom layout for the decorative moulding.

The sketch then goes up on the wall, with every piece of this complex puzzle custom made for a perfect fit. Our carpenters are meticulous and keep everything aligned through this process. Trim pieces are carefully caulked to ensure the finished result is smooth and elegant.

Then it’s finally time to bring in professional interior painters to finish the project. We use special trim paint when painting decorative moulding and paneling.

For this Fishers house, the homeowners chose Sherwin-Williams SW 7011 Natural Choice. This is a warm off-white color that brings character without losing light. Here, we used a monotone color scheme and paint with a satin sheen on all the trim and walls.

The result is a professional finish that looks like it belongs on the cover of a magazine!

Other Decorative Trim Options

In addition to the Picture Frame Moulding seen here, we also install:

  • Judge’s Paneling
  • Wainscoting
  • Board and Batten Walls
  • Custom Decorative Interior Trim and Paneling

We will take a look at those in another post!

Interior Paint Colors for Your Style – Shades of White

We hear it all the time: “My home is so boring – the walls are all the same color!”  – or –  “I recently bought a home and I can’t stand the colors! I just want bright white walls everywhere!”  There’s no one right way to paint a home, and our professional interior painters at Guy Painting turn your house into your dream home – by painting with colors that match YOUR style and personality!

In this series, we are looking at some of the color choices our customers have made to personalize their homes!

There are a few decisions to make when you’re thinking about painting inside your home. Of course, you need to find the best painter near you. Luckily, you know a Guy, so you’ve already found the best interior painter in Indianapolis! The next step is to decide on a color… but how do you find an interior paint color that matches your style and personality?

The good news is that you’re not on your own. Guy Painting offers color help through our team of painting experts. We have decades of experience painting homes, we have seen many colors in action and can help you with how to choose paint colors for your space. For many of our painting projects we are even able to offer a complimentary color consultation with an interior designer who specializes in color choice!

Choosing a white paint color

If you want a bright space that feels modern and full of light, you can’t beat the simple elegance of white!

How do you pick a white interior paint color for your home? There are so many options! Just looking through Sherwin Williams white paint colors online can be overwhelming.

A few tips for choosing a white paint color:

  • Watch for undertones that match your home. Is your flooring a warm tone or a cool tone? What about your cabinets and countertops?
  • Check the LRV (Light Reflective Value) of white paints. The higher this is, the brighter your room will be. As the number gets lower, the white will also have more undertones.
  • Are you keeping the walls and trim the same shade? Using a more off-white with bright white trim is an option if you feel all white is too stark.
  • If you are painting over darker walls, make sure you are using a primer. We typically use an oil based primer to ensure coverage. The last thing you want on a white wall is to see the previous color streaking through.

Take a look at some of our recent interior painting projects for color inspiration!

Fishers basement gets bright update

The reality is that basements can feel dark no matter what. Even with these great doors and windows letting in light, this Fishers family knew their basement could be even better! The solution here was bright white, and they chose Sherwin-Williams SW 7004 Snowbound.

Snowbound was the Sherwin Williams Color of the Month for September 2022, and we expect to see it growing in popularity for homes like this.

Indianapolis home goes modern with white paint

These homeowners in the Geist area knew they wanted to update their home with something that would feel modern and bright. When choosing a shade of white, she knew she wanted the brightest possible option. For that, the clear choice is Sherwin Williams Extra White. This is the purest white and the lack of any undertones means it works with just about any colors you want to use in your home decorating!

You may be wondering how to brighten a dark room, and this is a great example of the difference that paint makes! The color before was a neutral beige/tan, and it was not that dark. But painting with white makes it look significantly brighter!

As the first thing your guests see when they come into your home, your foyer should set the tone for the rest of the house. Some people feel white can feel stark and cold, but paired with the warm wood stairs and floors, it looks modern and welcoming in this home!

Getting started

Before we begin, we will walk the project with you and verify all of the details and answer any questions.

As with all painting, the quality of the finish is based on the prep work. Our painters will start by protecting your kitchen from any paint splatters or overspray. Anything not getting painted will be covered. We also will set up a temporary spray booth, typically in your garage.

Kitchen Cabinets

Painting

The process for painting and products used will depend on a lot of factors, as each kitchen is unique. When we make your quote, we will customize the process for your kitchen so that you don’t pay for anything you don’t need. A typical kitchen may have the following steps:

  • We remove cabinet doors and drawers, and all hardware. We then take these to the temporary spray booth in your garage to be painted.
  • Next we lightly sand as needed for paint adhesion.
  • Lines and seams are caulked where needed.
  • Often, we need to use a spray primer. This is typically an oil based primer. Oil based primer does a great job of sealing the surface of the wood, allowing the paint to cover better.
  • Most cabinets will now have two coats of paint sprayed. What paint is best for painting kitchen cabinets? Well, it depends! Over the years, we have selected certain paints that perform better in various situations. If you’re painting a dark color, we may suggest using a different product than if you’re painting the cabinets white.
  • Through the process, our painters and Quality Managers will perform numerous quality inspections to make sure everything looks great.
  • Now it’s time to put everything back together, and clean up your beautifully refreshed kitchen!

Indoor Painting Updates for Winter

There’s a chill in the air, and that means it’s time to think about returning to the great indoors for the winter and holiday season. As much as our homes are a part of our daily lives, they take center stage in the upcoming holiday season:

Our homes become the backdrop of our treasured holiday memories, the place we welcome our friends and family to celebrate these special times together.

These moments are sneaking up quickly, so we want to share some common indoor painting updates for winter that we can help take off your to-do list!

Projects that are popular in the fall and winter:

  • Painting walls and ceilings
  • Drywall repair
  • Removing wallpaper
  • Painting trim
  • Painting cabinets
  • Painting banisters

Painting walls

two-story living room

This two-story living room makes a dramatic statement in Sherwin Williams SW6244 Naval

Painting in rooms with high ceilings, like foyers and two-story living rooms. Make sure the entrance of your home welcomes your guests with a fresh feeling that fits you and your home. We can help you choose a color for your foyer that is classic, natural, bright, dark, dramatic… anything you want!

Gathering and entertaining spaces, especially around kitchens, dining rooms, and family rooms. It’s surprising how dirty the walls of a kitchen can get – and as the heart of the home it always seems to be the gathering place for holiday parties! Think of painting the walls with a color that accents your current cabinetry and countertops, or make a full change and paint the kitchen cabinets, too!

Guest bedrooms for welcoming overnight visitors. We know you probably don’t think of this room often, but here’s your reminder to give it a quick update with a new coat of paint! It’s a great place to try a new color you have been thinking of for your home. Your guests will appreciate the look, and you can see what a color looks like in your home!

Removing wallpaper

before/after kitchen

This kitchen got rid of the dated wallpaper but still feels fun in Sherwin Williams SW9135 Whirlpool!

We know how it goes – you’ve lived with that old wallpaper for so long and you dread removing it so you don’t do anything about it. Good call – done improperly, wallpaper removal can cause drywall damage that’s difficult to repair. Our professional painters have the tools (and patience!) to properly remove wallpaper, and then sand and skim coat any needed areas. After a fresh coat of paint to update the room, you’ll feel like you have a brand new home!

Drywall repair

Patch drywall holes and blemishes. Take care of those imperfections on your walls that we overlook in daily life. Our painting crews can fix holes in drywall from accidents and mistakes so that it looks like it never happened!

Ceiling repairs and matching ceiling texture. Ceilings can get missed as we consider updating the home, but old water leaks and stains can make an otherwise beautiful room feel old and in need of attention. We can paint over stains using special primers and paint products, and we can match existing ceiling textures if needed so that repairs blend seamlessly.

Trim Painting

Painting the wood trim in a bright white made a huge difference (before/after)

Painting the wood trim in a bright white made a huge difference  – it’s immediately brighter and looks like new!

Painting over stained wood trim. Shorter winter days can really remind us that our home feels darker than we want it to, and a great option to help this is to paint over stained wood trim in your home. Going from stained wood trim to painted wood trim is part science and part art – and the right tools and experience make all the difference! Our professional painters know the right products to use and application techniques needed to give you a smooth and long-lasting finish. You’ll be surprised to see the difference this change makes in your home! Those previously dark corners suddenly feel bright and cheerful, and you find yourself enjoying your home in a whole new light.

Cabinet Painting

before and after of a kitchen

We spend so much time in our kitchens in the holiday season – make sure you love where you’re cooking! This kitchen worked well but the homeowner wanted an update – it looks great!

Painting kitchen cabinets.

There can’t be a faster way to make a huge update to your home than this! Kitchen cabinets get so much use, and at this time of year they become the background of our holiday parties and family memories. A kitchen renovation can be incredibly disruptive and expensive, but we can help you achieve a similar result in just a few days… and typically for much less money! The process of painting kitchen cabinets is more intense than other painting projects, and our painters have years of experience painting cabinetry to achieve as close as possible to a factory perfect finish.

Our cabinet painting process was developed to be efficient and leave you with a kitchen you can be proud of!

Painting kitchen islands, sometimes in an accent color.

If you’re not ready to paint the entire kitchen, think of just updating your kitchen island cabinetry! Many of our customers choose to use an accent color on the kitchen islands that is different from the rest of the kitchen cabinets.

Painting bathroom cabinets.

Don’t forget about the hardworking cabinets in the bathrooms that we so easily overlook. If you’re painting other cabinets in the home, it’s a great time to update the bathroom cabinets at the same time!

The wood built-ins made this room look dated, but painting them white makes it look completely different.

The wood built-ins made this room look dated, but painting them white makes it look completely different. Think of all the potential for seasonal decorating on these shelves!

Built-in bookshelves.
Painting mudroom cabinets or laundry room cabinets.

Our families sure can abuse the cabinets in a mudroom or laundry room! Over the years, they take a beating and they can start to show it. Think of going with a darker color in these spaces to help hide the dirt, mud, and fingerprints of daily life.

Painting banisters and stair railings

banisters and stair railings

On banisters, some people like the look of wood handrails with white spindles, like in the before picture, and some homeowners like everything painted – either way, we can make it happen!

Often a focal point of an entryway, stairs can make a stunning entrance to your home… or they can make even a freshly painted room look dated. Painting stair rails and banisters is a popular way to update these features – and it’s often much more affordable than installing new! Some homeowners choose to paint everything, sometimes just the handrails or just the spindles.

Wood Replacement and Repair before Painting

It’s just a fact: as homes mature, wood that has been exposed to the elements can start to show signs of deterioration and will need to be replaced. As a part of our full-service exterior painting, we are happy to provide wood replacement and repair for many of our customers. We want your home to be protected, look great, and stay in great condition for years to come!

Rotten fascia and gutterboard wood replacement before and after by Guy Painting in Geist

We discovered wood rot on the fascia and gutter board in this area. Our carpenters replaced the wood before our painters came in to finish the painting.

What is Wood Rot and What Causes It?

Wood rot is just the natural process of wood decomposition. It’s caused by moisture and many different types of fungi that work together to cause the wood to decay. In nature, it’s an important process that returns the nutrients from the tree back to the soil. In your home, it’s not as welcome and can cause serious problems if left untreated.

Different types of fungi cause different reactions in the wood, and the way the wood rots can vary because of this. This means that wood rot doesn’t always look the same, and it’s important to have a professional check your home thoroughly for signs of damage.

We are looking for a few different signs of wood rot when we inspect your home, including:

  • Swelling
  • Discoloration
  • Soft spots
  • Mold
  • Missing paint and raw wood

Wood rot is often hiding behind paint, so our team will be inspecting visually and by touch at key points around your home.

Before and after showing wood rot on siding, replace rotten siding before painting by Guy Painting in Indianapolis

As you can see, the previous paint job covered most of this wood rot so that it wasn’t immediately visible. Upon closer inspection, there was considerable wood rot. Our carpenters replaced all of the rotten trim and siding with new wood.

As part of your free painting quote, our painting expert will survey your house to discover any wood that needs to be repaired before painting. In addition to showing you the wood rot at the time of the quote, we will make a detailed Wood Replacement sheet. This sheet shows the location of each board that needs to be replaced and pictures of those areas. Our carpenters will then complete a thorough inspection of the house before they start, paying extra attention to anything we marked to survey. We want to make sure we get everything taken care of for you!

How to Fix Wood Rot

Unfortunately, the only thing to do with rotting wood is to replace it. There’s no cure for the decomposition, and the potential for further damage increases the longer the rotting wood is left in place. The rot will start to spread to nearby wood, and can get into the house and start to affect structural components of the home.

We are often able to replace or repair many wood items on homes before we complete a painting project, including:

  • Wood Siding – including lap siding, sheet siding, board and batten, shake, and more
  • Wood Trim
  • Wood Soffits
  • Wood Fascias
  • Wood Gutter Boards
  • Wood Band Boards
  • Wood Door Frames
  • Wood Windows and Sashes

We discovered wood rot on the trim board above this window. The wood just appeared dirty, but upon closer inspection, there was wood rot and the board needed to be replaced by our carpenters.

We found wood rot on the vertical trim board behind the downspout. The wood appeared discolored and misshapen, and easily crumbled when touched.

Our carpenters came in and removed the rotten wood trim boards. We replaced the boards with the same material, pre-primed, and our painters are seen here finishing up the painting project.

The Process

We have incredible carpenters on our team! Before we start painting, one of our skilled carpenters will come to your home to complete the wood replacement and repair.

The wood we use on your home will be pre-primed, meaning that it’s ready to withstand weather conditions from the moment that it’s installed on your home. The material will match whatever material already exists on your home. Our goal is to make the wood repairs blend perfectly with your home.

Once our carpenters have finished the wood replacement, our professional painters take over. They will power wash any of the existing boards or siding that we will be painting, and then they start the prep work for painting. Our Quality Managers will monitor the progress and quality of your home from start to finish!

Painting Brick to Update Exterior

When these Indianapolis homeowners started thinking about painting their house, they knew they wanted to make a big update. It’s a beautiful home but the brick was starting to look a little outdated, so they decided to go all in: they painted the brick!

A lot of people are considering painting their brick to update their homes. It’s a quick way to completely change the look of a house, and you can change your home into any color you would like. The process for painting brick is more involved than with just painting wood or siding, so it’s important to bring in a professional who knows how to paint brick correctly.

The Process

When making this kind of investment in your home, it’s important to be sure you have the color that you want! Our team has experience with colors and we sent our PPG Paint specialist to the house to make sure we had an exact match. He was also able to create a custom match for the black contrasting color used on the garage doors and gutters. For the brick, siding, and trim, the homeowners chose PPG 1008-1 Focus. This is a warm neutral white color that feels classic, and the perfect choice for their home!

As with many of our painting projects, the first step is to take care of any wood replacement needed. A painted finish can only be as good as the material that it’s on! Luckily our carpenters can take care of most wood issues that we come across. In this case, our carpenters replaced some wood trim, gutter boards, and siding.

As a service, we are also able to offer new gutters and downspouts. The perfect time to replace those is during a painting project, and we can make it easier by handling all of that for you. Since we were doing such a big overhaul on this home’s exterior, the homeowner’s thought it would be ideal to take care of both projects at once. They chose gutters with gutter covers to reduce future maintenance. In addition, they chose to have their gutters and downspouts painted a contrasting dark color in order to stand out.

Once painting started, our Quality Managers were on site to check the progress and quality of this project every day. We take care of the details so the homeowner can just relax and know that the job is being completed with care. Our results and reviews speak for themselves!

The Finished Product

The end result of this project is stunning. The house feels contemporary while still timeless, welcoming and warm. We want to spend a quiet afternoon on the porch of this house – but we are on to the next home!

A New Look for a Kitchen

Kitchen Cabinet Updates with Paint!

Like so many Indianapolis area homeowners, this Westfield family was looking for an update to their dated wood kitchen cabinets. They were not new to Guy Painting, they had recently moved into a new house and had already had us out to paint most of the interior of their home and were getting ready for us to come back to paint a few more rooms! Since they loved working with Guy Painting, they decided to get a free quote to paint their kitchen cabinets, too. We’ve been painting a lot of kitchen cabinets recently!

They had a great kitchen layout and the cabinets were in good condition, so it did not make sense to replace the cabinets. Luckily, painting kitchen cabinets is a cost-effective way to get that updated look for less money than replacing the cabinets! They met with Sean, to go over options and pricing to paint kitchen cabinets. Sean got some measurements and gave them a quote on the spot so they could make a decision on what they wanted to do for the home. Since they were familiar with us, they signed up on the spot to get their kitchen cabinets painted!

The process for painting kitchen cabinets takes a few days, and as with all painting projects, prep work is so important! Our professional painters take care the protect everything in the kitchen. We put down coverings on the floor and we tape off everything that won’t be painted with plastic. We remove doors and drawers and set up a separate area to spray those items. For cabinetry, we spray everything including the cabinets themselves in order to leave a smooth finish free of brush or roll marks.

In this kitchen, the customer wanted a different color on the island. For this, we end up covering the rest of the cabinets and spraying the island first, and then covering the island and spraying the rest of the kitchen.

Origami White

Taupe Tone

We love the way the white cabinets pop against the slate blue walls. It’s a beautiful look and the homeowners love it! When asked how the process went, they said:

It went very well & only 3 days from start to finish.

All painters were efficient, friendly, and did a great job!
